Sydostlänken drives regional development through new collaboration
Polar Structure AB has entered into a collaboration agreement with the municipalities of Karlshamn, Olofström, Sölvesborg, Älmhult, and Osby to maximize the potential benefits of Sydostlänken – one of the most significant infrastructure projects in southern Sweden. The partnership aims to identify and implement concrete measures to enhance logistics, improve connectivity, and foster industrial growth in the region.
Sydostlänken represents a transformative opportunity for businesses and communities by creating better conditions for commuting, transportation, and regional development. The collaboration with the five municipalities is focused on addressing both local and regional needs, with the ambition to deliver long-term solutions that benefit residents and businesses alike.
“Sydostlänken strengthens the region’s logistics and connections while promoting industrial development. Our collaboration with the municipalities focuses on maximizing its long-term benefits for both businesses and communities,” says Tobias Emanuelsson, CEO of Polar Structure AB.
This work takes a holistic view of infrastructure, addressing both current and future needs. Among the measures to be explored are:
- Development of marshalling yards in Karlshamn
- Construction of triangle tracks in Älmhult
- New connection tracks to Sydostlänken
- Development of dry ports and logistics areas
- Establishment of climate-friendly industrial parks along the railway corridor
Following the government’s decision in the summer of 2024 to move forward with the construction of Sydostlänken, the involved parties are now ready to concretize these plans and ensure the project delivers maximum value for the region. The focus extends beyond improved transportation solutions to creating opportunities for sustainable growth, increased tourism, and enabling more people to live and work in the area.
